Police have identified the driver who may have caused a fatal accident in the Mykolaiv region.
Law enforcement officials have located the driver of a crossover who, according to preliminary data, may have caused a traffic accident in the Nikolaev region that killed 12 people.
This was reported by the police of the Nikolaev region.
As a reminder, the accident occurred on the morning of July 4 on the Odesa-Mykolaiv highway. A passenger minibus collided with a Volvo truck. As a result of the accident, 12 people were killed and six others were injured. The 49-year-old minibus driver and eight passengers died at the scene, and three more victims died in the hospital.
Investigators initially determined that the minibus driver drove off the road, after which the vehicle overturned, crossed into the oncoming lane, and collided with a truck.
However, after interviewing witnesses, law enforcement officers came to the preliminary conclusion that the accident could have been caused by the actions of another driver, who was driving towards the minibus and may have violated traffic rules.
Police conducted a special operation to search for him. Just a few hours later, on the Blagoveshchenskoye-Mykolaiv highway, law enforcement officers stopped a Nissan Murano crossover driven by a 45-year-old resident of another region of Ukraine.
Investigators are conducting urgent procedural actions, establishing all the circumstances of the tragedy, and resolving issues regarding the legal classification of the SUV driver’s actions.
