Politician and former military officer Volodymyr Omelyan has not yet received an official notification of suspicion from the State Bureau of Investigation. He considers the activity of the law enforcement agencies to be politically motivated and links it to personal instructions from the leadership.

Omelyan spoke about this on the air of “Pryamoy”.

“This is another abuse of power, this is another use of the law enforcement system for political purposes. And I think that the issue of reforming the State Bureau of Investigation, the prosecutor’s office, and other law enforcement agencies is very acute. Not because this is my case, but because there are a lot of such cases,” the former serviceman emphasized.

The guest said that law enforcement officers are using old photos from 2023 to illustrate supposedly new procedural actions. He denied accusations of dereliction of duty, noting that all movements took place with the approval of the command. Omelyan added that after being wounded, he was discharged from the Armed Forces, which makes the bureau’s current claims absurd.

In addition, the politician expressed indignation that hundreds of equipped special forces are engaged in the persecution of opponents instead of serving at the front. He believes that the imitation of work instead of the real fight against crime requires immediate reform of the entire system of the prosecutor’s office and the State Bureau of Investigation.

The day before, the State Bureau of Investigation announced that the bureau’s employees had reported suspicions to the former Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Volodymyr Omelyan, under Part Four of Article 409 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – evasion of a serviceman from performing military service duties by deception, committed under martial law.

The investigation believes that during several periods in 2022-2023, he “spent his service time at his own discretion and did not perform any duties related to military service in a unit deployed in the Cherkasy region.”
