According to the publication, on July 26, the pontiff plans to meet with the head of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Anthony.

Thanks to this meeting, Leo XIV seeks to establish a dialogue with the Russian patriarch.

It should be recalled that in May 2025, Pope Leo XIV stated that he was ready to hold the next round of negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation in the Vatican . However, the Kremlin responded that the Vatican was not suitable as a place for peace talks due to its “inelegance.”
