Poroshenko and European Solidarity MPs Initiate Verkhovna Rada Appeal to Western Partners on Andriy Parubiy’s Murder

The fifth president and leader of “European Solidarity” Petro Poroshenko, deputies from the “European Solidarity” faction and other factions registered in parliament a draft appeal to the parliaments and governments of foreign states, international organizations in connection with the murder of a people’s deputy of Ukraine, a member of the parliamentary faction “EU”, former chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

This is stated in the draft resolution on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Andriy Parubiy’s associates call on the international community to condemn this act of political terror as part of the Russian Federation’s aggressive war against Ukraine.

“The memory of Andriy Parubiy – his patriotism, sacrifice and devotion to Ukraine – will forever remain an example for future generations. Today, more than ever, Ukraine needs the unity of the free world. Only by joint efforts can we stop the terrorist state that seeks to destroy the Ukrainian people and blow up the foundations of the international legal order,” the draft document says.

The deputies also appeal to the European Parliament and the parliaments of EU member states to honour the memory of the former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy and all Ukrainians who died due to the aggression of the Russian Federation with a minute of silence.

The parliamentarians demand that Ukrainian law enforcement agencies ensure an immediate, professional, transparent and effective investigation into the murder, with the involvement of international experts if necessary.

At the same time, Ukraine’s international partners are calling for increased political, economic and sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation as a terrorist state that is waging an aggressive war and resorting to political assassinations and destabilizing actions.

In addition, the people’s deputies are asking for additional assistance to be provided to Ukraine in the area of security and defense, in particular, to strengthen the ability to counter terrorist and sabotage attacks.

The document also emphasizes the need to strengthen national unity, consolidate democratic forces, and abandon political persecution and discrediting of opponents.

Earlier it was reported that an evening of remembrance of the people’s deputy Andriy Parubiy began on Kiev’s Independence Square . Hundreds of people, including public and political figures, gathered to honor the memory of the parliamentarian.

Let us recall that on August 30 , public and political figure Andriy Parubiy was killed in Lviv .

It later became known that a shooter who killed the current member of parliament from European Solidarity and former chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy is being sought in the Lviv region . A photo of the alleged killer is being published online.

Later, journalists reported that deputy Andriy Parubiy was shot 8 times by a man disguised as a courier.
