Poroshenko at the festival “TuStan! The Path of the Hero!”: Andriy Parubiy always fought for the future of Ukraine

The annual festival of Ukrainian medieval culture “TuStan! The Path of the Hero!” was held in the Lviv region. This year, the festival is dedicated to the memory of one of its founders, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine from the “European Solidarity” faction, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the eighth convocation, the Commandant of the Maidan Self-Defense Forces, and the Hero of Ukraine, Andriy Parubiy.

This was reported by the press service of Eurosolidarity .

His friends, like-minded people, and associates spoke about Andriy Parubiy’s role as one of the leaders in the creation of a European Ukraine.

“Andriy’s life is an incredible path that left a significant mark on the history of Ukraine. Today I am very grateful to Andriy’s father, Volodymyr Ivanovich, as well as his niece and goddaughter, Khrystyna Parubiy, who brought us together so that we could once again reflect on this enormous contribution,” said leader Poroshenko.

“We met Andriy back in 1999, when he was a very young man with an impeccable system of values. Uncompromising, courageous and at the same time open and trusting. A person who knew how to make true friends. Andriy Parubiy found himself in politics very early, and Ukraine only benefited from this. He went from the organizer of the “Language Maidan” to the co-author of the “Law on Language”. He was the one who fought for the language in life and in parliament, and won,” he recalled.

“Andriy was, first and foremost, a statesman who did not think about elections. He went from the commandant of Euromaidan to the moment when we made amendments to the Constitution regarding integration into the EU and NATO. And here he succeeded. Andriy sincerely believed in God. When I returned from Constantinople and suggested that the parliament support the appeal to the Ecumenical Patriarch regarding the granting of the Tomos, Andriy said to give him 24 hours to do so. And he did it. He went through the entire path of the struggle for the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and stood next to me at the Phanar during the receipt of the Tomos,” Poroshenko noted.

“Andriy contributed to the development of the Ukrainian army. Back during the Maidan, he led hundreds of self-defense forces, who later joined the first battalions of the National Guard and went to the front in March 2014. Andriy Parubiy did an indescribable amount for Ukraine. Thank you to everyone who helped honor his memory and signed the petition to award him the title of Hero of Ukraine. Who signed the petition to name a street in Kyiv after Andriy Parubiy, and special thanks to our team in the Kyiv City Council for this. There is also a street in Lviv named after Andriy Parubiy, and we are grateful to the Lviv City Council for this,” the party leader added.

“No matter how many good deeds Andriy did, he never looked into the past – only into the future. And the best tribute to his memory would be Ukraine’s membership in the European Union and NATO. The preservation and development of the European state of Ukraine and the victory over our eternal enemy. We will do everything for this. And may your name gather around itself so many people loyal to Ukraine from year to year,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.

It was previously reported that visitors to the festival “Tu Stan. The Hero’s Path” will see knightly battles, medieval crafts, games and a fortress storming . On the literary stage – Ivan Malkovych, Vasyl Shklyar and Yuriy Andrukhovych. And the three-day program will be complemented by performances by the Frankivsk Drama Theater, the bands VV, Ot Vinta, Maria Burmaka, Mandriv and others.
