Poroshenko: Attack on Kyiv airports shows Putin’s real attitude towards peace talks

Petro Poroshenko, at the congress of Lithuania’s largest party, the Fatherland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, stated that the Russian aggressor’s attack on Kyiv airports on the eve of the visit of American negotiators Witkoff and Kushner is a clear signal that Putin is sending to the world – he does not need an end to the war.

This was reported by the press service of “European Solidarity” .

“We certainly pray for peace, fight for peace, and strive for peace. We sincerely count on our American partners, but today we saw extremely symbolic signs,” Poroshenko said.

He added that Ukraine had information that Mr. Kushner and Mr. Witkoff were to arrive at Boryspil Airport on an American plane for the first time in five years.

“And it was this night that Russia struck Boryspil and Zhulyany. In this way, they sent a signal that they did not want to see Kushner and Witkoff in Kyiv. This was a demonstrative rejection of President Trump’s proposal for a three-day ceasefire before the start of negotiations. This is an extremely revealing gesture: Putin wants war. This is signal number one,” the fifth President said.

According to Poroshenko, the second signal was that “Putin does not understand either Ukrainian, German, or Russian.”

“He understands only the language of force. And in order to speak clearly with him, we need more weapons, we need stronger Armed Forces of Ukraine, long-range missiles, air defense, and unique unity – unity between Ukraine, Lithuania, Europe, and NATO,” Poroshenko believes.

He added that Russia is now using fundamentally different tactics.

“It is extremely difficult to live in a 15-hour air raid alert regime: the city is paralyzed – business, post office, schools, pharmacies, hospitals. To counteract this, we are looking for new approaches, in particular regarding a multi-level alert system and the most modern solutions,” Petro Poroshenko notes.

The leader of Eurosolidarity noted that Andrius Kubilius is organizing a conference on the “drone army” in Brussels on September 11-12.

“We will present him with a new type of jet interceptor against Russian drones, and this will definitely help. All these problems should not drive us into depression. We must remain optimistic. We are stronger, the truth is behind us – and we will win,” Poroshenko concluded.

The day before, Petro Poroshenko stated in Vilnius that populism during war becomes a huge threat to national security .

Earlier, during a speech at the congress of Lithuania’s largest party, the Fatherland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, in Vilnius, Petro Poroshenko stated that the first task of negotiations to end Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine should be a ceasefire.

By the way, during a speech at the congress of Lithuania’s largest party, the Fatherland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, in Vilnius, Petro Poroshenko stated that Ukraine has entered a new phase of the war , when the aggressor is trying to destroy the economy and civilian life in the rear, primarily in the capital.
