The Fifth President emphasized that the Atlantic Council is one of the leading think tanks on Ukraine issues and a de facto support team for Kyiv in Washington.
“We discussed all the key challenges that are important today both for our state and Europe, as well as for the US and the world as a whole,” Poroshenko noted.
According to him, the parties paid special attention to returning Ukraine to the priorities of the global agenda.
“The world of tomorrow depends on how the war that Russia has unleashed against Ukraine is concluded,” he emphasized.
Poroshenko also reported that during the meeting they discussed the situation on the front, the needs of the Ukrainian army, as well as the negotiation process and the achievement of a complete and unconditional ceasefire.
Separately, the need to strengthen strategic relations between Ukraine and the United States was discussed.
“There is no alternative to strengthening Ukrainian-American strategic relations, transatlantic solidarity, and mutual support. This must be coordinated together with a united Europe,” the fifth President noted.
In addition, the parties emphasized the importance of preserving the democratic development of Ukraine.
“It’s about strengthening the rule of law, multi-party parliamentarism, fighting corruption, and preserving the rights of the opposition,” Poroshenko added.
