Poroshenko discussed strengthening air defenses and developing the Ukraine-EU drone alliance with European Commissioner Kubilius.
During his visit to Lithuania, fifth President and leader of European Solidarity Petro Poroshenko met with EU Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius.
“I thanked him for his consistent support of Ukraine and his strong and decisive voice in favor of strengthening European defense. We discussed Ukraine’s most urgent needs: strengthening air defenses, developing joint production, and sharing Ukrainian combat experience with European countries. We discussed preparations for the first meeting of the Ukraine-EU Drone Alliance and the expected results. A strong and secure Europe is impossible without Ukraine,” Poroshenko wrote on social media .

Speaking at the congress of Lithuania’s largest party, the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, in Vilnius, Petro Poroshenko noted that the most pressing need today is air defense.

“Patriot missiles, interceptor missiles, other air defense systems, counter-drone systems. This has long ceased to be just a question of military assistance. It’s a question of whether the country can function at all, especially as winter approaches. We need to protect not only power plants; we need to cover major cities, logistics, ports, railways, critical manufacturing facilities, and the defense industry. Today, every interceptor missile is more than just a piece of equipment. It’s a life saved, a hospital that continues to function, a train that reaches its destination, a factory that continues to operate. We need a strong Lithuanian voice in Europe to maximize the concentration of air defense resources for Ukraine. Because today, the outcome of this war is increasingly being decided in the skies above all of Ukraine,” Poroshenko said.

He emphasized that a strong Europe and powerful transatlantic unity are the only common strategy for victory. “This is a strategy for European security, a strategy for peace, under which Russia will no longer be able to destroy Europe. Lithuania and Ukraine have repeatedly proven that together we are much stronger. Now is the time to transform our unity into new shared solutions, new opportunities, and a new European strength,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
