Poroshenko discussed the process of Ukraine’s integration into the EU with European Commission Director General for Enlargement Koopman

Petro Poroshenko, who is in Brussels, discussed Ukraine’s European integration process with the European Commission’s Director-General for Enlargement Geert Jan Koopman.

“We discussed in detail the state of the negotiation process on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, the need for our state to make progress in implementing reforms in the area of the rule of law in the context of the parliamentary crisis,” the fifth President wrote on social media.

“I emphasized the importance of creating a parliamentary coalition of national unity based on the European integration agenda to accelerate the achievement of the EU membership criteria. I informed Mr. Koopman about the problematic aspects of the functioning of democratic institutions in our state, ensuring respect for the rights of the opposition, multi-party pluralism, and politically motivated persecution,” Petro Poroshenko noted.
