Poroshenko explained from the parliamentary rostrum why it is necessary to protect the army, language, faith

Petro Poroshenko stated from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada that yesterday in Washington the leaders of the pro-Ukrainian coalition demonstrated their unity.

He also stressed that Putin is pursuing the goal of completely destroying Ukrainian independence, so it is necessary to protect the army, language and faith as the foundations of our statehood.

“What happened last night in the White House is not just a meeting of leaders, it is not just a summit with the leaders of Europe, the United States and Ukraine. This is a key stage in the fight for our freedom, for our democracy and for the existence of Ukraine. Yesterday, unity won – European unity, transatlantic unity, transatlantic unity, unity, Poroshenko said.

“The world must understand: territorial concessions are taboo. Unconstitutional. Destruction of international law. International law cannot be crossed out,” the fifth President emphasized.

“I am proud that the Verkhovna Rada supported my proposal to change the Constitution on the mandatory integration of Ukraine into the European Union and NATO. And Putin will not have the right to veto fateful changes in the future of Ukraine. This is a strategic course,” Poroshenko recalled.

“We must remember that Putin does not need only Donbass, he needs all of Ukraine. And that is why he includes in his demands the reduction of the army. Consequently, you and I need to protect the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He is writing down the granting of official status to the Russian language. That is why you and I need to protect the language. He is writing down the protection of the Russian Orthodox Church, because the army, language and faith are the foundation of our statehood and will be protected by the Verkhovna Rada,” Poroshenko emphasized.

He also noted once again that if Putin were to disrupt peace efforts, Plan B would have to be implemented: “We must have a common Plan B with Europe and NATO. More weapons, more money, more sanctions, opening the doors to NATO, opening the doors to the EU.”

“And one more thing. I think it would be worth inviting the President of Ukraine so that we, the people’s deputies, are informed about what was, what is and how we will act together in the future,” Poroshenko emphasized.
