Poroshenko explained how events in Gaza could affect Ukraine

П'ятий Президент України Петро Порошенко

Petro Poroshenko, who is participating in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Ljubljana, welcomed the signing of the peace agreement on Gaza. Poroshenko is convinced that the peace efforts of the Western allies should now be focused on ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.

“First of all, I want to congratulate the families of the hostages on the fact that their loved ones have returned home. Secondly, attacks have finally stopped, including against the civilian population. Thirdly, I want to congratulate President Trump. Because his important mission has achieved a very convincing result. And I hope that now the American president’s time will be freed up to concentrate on the work on the ceasefire in Ukraine, to put pressure on Putin, to motivate him to stop the war. And if Putin does not agree to this – so that with the same determination that President Trump demonstrated in the Middle East, we apply Plan B. And regarding the transfer of additional weapons, including high-precision and long-range, with cruise missiles, so that Putin does not have any illusions,” Poroshenko said .

“The second position is to improve the sanctions mechanism. And sanctions will be applied not only to Russia, but also to those companies and countries that will help Russia circumvent sanctions. What will this ultimately lead to? To the fact that Putin will not be able to finance the war. Because Putin is already spending more than 40% of his GDP on financing the war. It cannot last that long,” Poroshenko emphasizes.

“We must unite and end the war. On conditions where we force Putin to stop killing Ukrainians. I believe in this, I think that reaching a peace agreement in Gaza will contribute to this,” the fifth President is convinced.

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump signed the final ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement during the Gaza summit held in Sharm el-Sheikh.
