Poroshenko explained using the example of the Middle East how a safe life is instantly destroyed and why Europe needs Ukraine

During the Summit of the International Democratic Union in Zagreb, Petro Poroshenko explained to Western partners how quickly the security environment can collapse and why Ukraine is a key security factor for all of Europe.

Poroshenko emphasized that support for Ukraine cannot be viewed as charity or a moral obligation.

“It is an absolutely wrong approach if you think that supporting Ukraine is charity from the European Union. This is a dead end. This is suicide. If you think that it is a moral obligation to support Ukraine, forget about it. It does not work,” he noted.

According to Poroshenko, investing in Ukraine’s defense industry and the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a direct investment in the security of all of Europe.

The Fifth President also gave the example of the situation in the Middle East after the Iranian attack, when a safe and comfortable life in the United Arab Emirates changed literally in one day.

“Just yesterday they were living in an absolutely comfortable situation. Prices were rising, investment valuations were rising. And one day after the Iranian attack, everything was destroyed,” Poroshenko noted.

He also drew attention to the fact that representatives of the Ukrainian defense sector worked in the ports of Dubai, Fujairah, Riyadh, and Azerbaijan the very next day, demonstrating their willingness to work together.

Poroshenko emphasized that NATO is currently not ready for this type of war, and therefore the allies must act together – combining the defense industry, armed forces, and experience.

“Let’s stick together, invest together, defend together and win. We must win this war against Russia,” he concluded.
