Poroshenko explained why Ukraine urgently needs to resume dialogue with China
During a special broadcast on the TV channels “Pryamiy” and “Channel 5” on the anniversary of the full-scale invasion, Petro Poroshenko stated that Ukraine must urgently resume dialogue with China.
He recalled that in 2023, China proposed its peace plan, which the authorities rejected.
“Why are we not using China’s capabilities today? Brazil’s? Exactly on February 24, only in 2023, China put forward its peace proposals to stop the war. What was there? Position number one. An immediate, comprehensive and unconditional ceasefire, says China, which can ensure this simply by stopping the supply of components to the Russian defense industry. Second. Unconditional guarantee of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Third. A guaranteed stop to shelling of critical energy infrastructure facilities, including nuclear power plants. What was Ukraine’s response? This does not meet Ukrainian interests, the Ukrainian authorities said. Why? This is a “pro-Russian version”. And they rejected it, pushed it away. Now we must immediately resume dialogue with China,” Poroshenko believes.
“We need absolutely specific things. We will study the experience of preparing the Minsk agreements. Where did we start? An unconditional, comprehensive ceasefire. No one can be against a ceasefire. Don’t discuss anything else,” Poroshenko urged.
“If the Russians are not ready to do this, and Putin understands only the language of force – Americans, please give us the Tomahawks. Germans, please give us the Taurus. NATO countries, please give us air defense. Give us the joint production of Patriot missiles as the only effective means against ballistic missiles. And as soon as Putin pays the price, when these are real attacks on Russian fuel and energy industry facilities, it will be much closer to a ceasefire,” Poroshenko says.
“Ask China. We are ready to accept the conditions proposed by China at the time. And supported by Brazil. Who, when was the last time from the Ukrainian government, was in China? Nobody. We have such a luxury that we are able to ignore the second economy, which today is a key factor in pressure on Russia. I think this is short-sighted,” Poroshenko is convinced.
