Poroshenko handed over 10 excavators to brigades for the construction of fortifications.

Petro Poroshenko delivered another batch of construction equipment to the troops – 10 excavators will be added tomorrow to boost the capabilities of brigades tasked with building fortifications and digging into the ground. These tractors cost over 32 million hryvnias.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Poroshenko has already donated 130 excavators to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, worth UAH 420 million. The fifth President is convinced that Ukraine must systematically build shelters—they are needed both at the front and in the rear.

“The enemy attacks gas stations, shopping centers, logistics warehouses, industrial facilities, and civilian homes with absolute impunity. To protect people, the state must work in two directions: strengthening air defenses and building shelters. Unfortunately, we still have to remind the authorities of this in the fifth year of the war,” Poroshenko wrote on social media.

“Our team, on its own, offers solutions that have no analogues. At Europe’s largest arms exhibition, representatives from NATO countries and our European partners lined up to see the Ai-Petri system. Because today, it’s one of the few solutions that can blind enemy ‘shahids’ and other methods of defeating the enemy,” Poroshenko noted.

“The second thing we must do is dig in. Build shelters and cover in Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Odesa, and other cities that are destroying the enemy. And once again, it is European Solidarity that is now fighting for a shelter law ,” the party leader recalled.

“We started at the front, supplying new excavators for the construction of defensive lines, caponiers, and shelters. In total, we delivered 130 excavators to various sections of the front, spending 420 million rubles of our and Marina’s funds. But we still have a queue of teams who need real equipment, not just shovels,” Poroshenko writes.

“Today, we are delivering ten excavators to ten renowned brigades. Our friends from the Kraken, the 33rd Separate Assault Regiment, the 72nd and 115th Mechanized Brigades, logistics battalions, and other equally renowned units are with us. The need for excavators is enormous. They allow us to quickly establish positions, shelters for personnel, caponiers for equipment, and other fortifications, thereby better protecting the lives of our soldiers,” notes Petro Poroshenko.

The European Solidarity bill on sheltering was passed in its first reading only after pressure from the parliamentary group and the public. On August 19, the bill passed its first reading, supported by 296 members of parliament.

European Solidarity submitted a bill on sheltering back in 2023, which has been ignored by the authorities ever since. In July of this year, EU deputies registered a revised bill, No. 15397, “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding the Adoption of Measures to Ensure the Safety of Citizens During a Special Period,” which provides for:

• guarantee unimpeded access of people to protective structures during martial law;
• establish clear requirements for the readiness of shelters, in particular with regard to their proper technical equipment;
• introduce regular checks of their condition;
• increase responsibility for the maintenance of protective structures;
• to facilitate the expansion of the network of shelters, including modular structures.
