Poroshenko honored the memory of Hero of the Heavenly Hundred Roman Gurik in Ivano-Frankivsk.
During his trip to Ivano-Frankivsk, Petro Poroshenko visited the grave of Hero of the Heavenly Hundred Roman Gurik and met with his family.
“Yesterday was Roman’s birthday. He’s 31. As they have for the past eleven years, his family is celebrating this day here… Young Roman Gurik was one of the first on the barricades of the Revolution of Dignity, but his life was cut short by a sniper’s bullet while hunting Maidan protesters. Now he’s a Hero forever, 19,” Poroshenko wrote on social media.

“Whenever I’m in Ivano-Frankivsk, I never miss his grave. Today I met with Igor and Irina, the boy’s parents. Roman, like the entire Heavenly Hundred, gave his life for a European Ukraine, one that has the right to freely choose its own direction. They were the ones who fought the first battle in this great war with Russia. We must remember each and every one of those who gave their lives for democracy and freedom,” Poroshenko said.
