Poroshenko hopes that the EU Council will approve regulations for the use of 90 billion euros for Ukraine this week
The Council of the European Union may approve the regulations for the use of 90 billion euros for Ukraine this week, Petro Poroshenko announced after a meeting with EU Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius.
As is known, the rapid completion of the EU procedures for allocating funds is necessary so that Ukraine can receive critically needed financial support to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and budgetary needs starting in April.
“I thanked you for the decision to allocate a loan to Ukraine in the amount of 90 billion euros to ensure priority military needs in a “cascade manner” (through investments in the Ukrainian defense industry, purchases from European manufacturers and, if necessary, from American gunsmiths),” the fifth President wrote on social networks.
“He also expressed hope for the approval of the European Union regulation on the use of the loan within the framework of the Council of Permanent Representatives of the EU this week,” Poroshenko writes.
He also discussed with European Commissioner Kubilius the security situation in Ukraine and Europe, ways to overcome the critical state of the Ukrainian energy sector as a result of the recent Russian missile attacks, and Ukraine’s urgent needs for air and anti-drone defense.
“I emphasized the importance of significantly increasing investments in the defense industry of both Ukraine and European countries. We exchanged views on the substantive content of the 20th package of EU sanctions against Russia, as well as the special resolution of the European Parliament and the statements of the European Commission in connection with the 4th year of the full-scale invasion and the 12th year of the beginning of Russian aggression against Ukraine,” Petro Poroshenko wrote.
