Poroshenko in Shevchenko Court: 11 years ago we saved Ukraine from an energy disaster

11 years ago, Putin’s plans to freeze Ukraine were no different from today’s, but then, thanks to the timely actions of the authorities, an energy collapse was avoided.

Petro Poroshenko reminded of this after a meeting of the Shevchenko Court, which continues to consider the so-called “coal case.”

Poroshenko once again emphasized that this matter is exclusively political, and against the backdrop of the current disaster with critical infrastructure, it looks like an absurd attempt by the authorities to distract attention from corruption scandals.

“Everyone forgot that in 2014 the temperature was the same, minus 20-25. There was zero money in the state treasury. And the aggressor’s plans were no different. Because in addition to the rocket, artillery, and mortar attacks on the generation, I mean the CHP in Shchastya, and the CHP in Sloviansk, in Vugledar, the generation was de facto blocked. And we, through hard work – the president, the government, the authorities – protected it from this. Over the past 11 years, some have forgotten that orders were given to purchase coal at a price half the alternative, on Ukrainian territory, from Ukrainian mines, from Ukrainian producers. And thus, the risk of a “cold snap” was avoided. I would like to remind you that it was at this time that Russia stopped the shipment of coal from Russian territory, from Kuzbass. All contracts were broken. Coal supplies were stopped. In 2014, they were waiting for what achieved today,” Poroshenko states.

“What are these processes distracting attention from? Just look at the last few months. “Mindichgate” with the theft of money intended for the protection of critical energy infrastructure, with the theft of funds for the state’s defense capability and the defense industry. “Kisilgate” with the distribution of money to people’s deputies from the “Servants of the People” party in the Ukrainian parliament, where the records show more than 20 bribe-takers. “Bakanovgate”: in the morning, Bakanov, it turns out, was accepting bags of money in his office, and in the evening he went to a press conference accusing Poroshenko of treason. And now it has finally become public,” the party leader noted.

“Where is Bakanov? He’s hiding. Or maybe he’s even already escaped. Who helped them escape? Mindich, Bakanov, “Sugarman”? The Border Guard Service of Ukraine. They applied the so-called “travel ban” on Poroshenko, when Deineko personally led the process of illegally denying Poroshenko entry, which was recognized by the decision of the appeals court, which entered into legal force. Where is Mr. Deineko now? He fled from office,” Poroshenko noted.

“It seems to me that we live in two worlds. They, all this crap, are stealing and destroying Ukraine. 11 years ago we saved the country from the “cold snap.” 11 years ago we fought for the territorial integrity of the state, started building an army. 11 years ago I signed an Association Agreement with the European Union, we signed a deep and comprehensive free trade area. And we stopped the war with the Minsk agreements. We bought, squeezed, squeezed out the time that allowed us to build a state, build the Armed Forces, build a church, build a nation, which allowed us to destroy Putin’s scenario of liquidating Ukraine. They prevented us, prevent us and will prevent us from doing this. And today, unfortunately, at the court hearing, they demonstrated this,” Poroshenko summarizes.
