During his speech in the Verkhovna Rada, Petro Poroshenko called for the return to parliament of the draft Anti-Corruption Strategy, which the monomajority removed from the agenda. Poroshenko noted that corruption is an internal enemy of Ukraine. He also called on the authorities to ensure bipartisan support from the United States of America, which is critically needed by our state.

“What has Ukraine been fighting for for almost 13 long years, bleeding? For our native land? Of course. For the Ukrainian people, for the people? First of all. But first of all, we are fighting for will, for freedom, for sovereignty and for the right to make decisions independently. Life in our own state according to our own rules. In order not to receive orders from either Moscow or other capitals,” Poroshenko said.

“We value our partners very much. And these are not empty words. We must ensure that partners support us not because someone is obedient, but because we share common values,” the fifth President believes.

“We have no right to lose the United States. I have been saying this since February 2025, since the disaster in the Oval Office. We need as a country, this is our vital interest, to ensure the support of the United States, bipartisan support in Congress, the support of the American people. And this requires diplomacy – parliamentary, state, people’s. I emphasize that the crisis in relations is not a reason for insults and loud statements. This is the time for serious diplomacy,” Poroshenko is convinced.

“Ukraine is interested in a ceasefire. Finally, we heard this from the authorities. It’s not that there will be no Minsk 3 and that we will demand some kind of security guarantees or something before the ceasefire. No. An immediate, comprehensive ceasefire. We must focus our efforts on this,” the opposition leader emphasizes.

“One more thing. And who else is the main enemy of Ukraine, besides Putin? Corruption. I don’t understand why the Anti-Corruption Strategy is not in the hall now. Yesterday we were assured that we should vote on the law on national minorities, but why did they forget about the independence of anti-corruption bodies? We demand the Anti-Corruption Strategy in the hall,” Poroshenko summed up.
