Poroshenko in the Rada: the authorities are ignoring the demands of European partners, set out in the European Parliament Resolution

During his speech in the Verkhovna Rada, Petro Poroshenko called on people’s deputies not to ignore the demands of Ukraine’s European partners, which were recorded in the European Parliament Resolution of September 9, 2025.

“This week is very important for the work of our parliament and for all of Ukraine. It is this week that, in accordance with the Constitution, the government submits the budget to the Verkhovna Rada. It is this week that the Government’s Action Program is proposed to us. And right now we have to analyze a very important document that was adopted by the European Parliament – the Resolution on Ukraine, which is based on the report for 2023-24,” Poroshenko emphasized.

“It is based on two basic positions of support for Ukraine: security and freedom – and democracy. Unfortunately, neither the Government’s Action Program, nor the budget, nor today’s agenda of the Verkhovna Rada reflects any issue that Europe demands from us,” the leader of Eurosolidarity stated.

“What is it talking about? The first priority is funding the Armed Forces. And this means closing cashbacks and telethons,” Poroshenko noted.

“The second position: freedom and democracy. And this means parliamentary pluralism, parliamentary diplomacy and the lifting of the ban on international activity. This means the impossibility of using law enforcement agencies to persecute the opposition. This means the implementation of the commitments made to reboot the State Bureau of Investigation, which is an instrument of pressure on the opposition. This means rebooting Finmonitoring, the corruption mechanism of its leadership, which steals money from the construction of fortifications,” Poroshenko noted.

He also thanked the European Parliament for honoring the memory of Andriy Parubiy.

As is known, the European Parliament in its Resolution on Ukraine, in particular, called on the Ukrainian authorities to refrain from untimely and politically motivated legal proceedings and sanctions against opposition representatives, as well as to support parliamentary pluralism and promote constructive dialogue between political factions in the Verkhovna Rada; to lift all restrictions on travel abroad for members of the Verkhovna Rada; called on Ukraine to consider structural reform of the State Bureau of Investigation with a view to strengthening its independence and efficiency in order to prevent abuses in connection with election campaigns; called for the restoration of full-fledged nationwide broadcasting for media providers as a matter of policy, resolutely rejecting further slide towards political censorship, etc.
