Poroshenko on American TV channel: Ukraine will not surrender and will not accept Russian demands

The fifth President of Ukraine and leader of the “European Solidarity” Petro Poroshenko stated during a live broadcast on the American TV channel MS NOW that Ukraine will not agree to any Russian demands and will demand a complete ceasefire before any negotiations begin. He emphasized that the protection of territorial integrity, national identity and combat capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine remain “red lines.”

This was reported by the press service of “European Solidarity”.

Poroshenko stressed that Ukrainians desire peace more than any nation in the world, but will not give up or accept the Kremlin’s ultimatums. He recalled that the United States plays a key role in the international process and must maintain the principle: “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.”

The Fifth President clearly stated that Ukraine will never agree to limit the size or functionality of the Armed Forces, as it is the army that ensures the security of Ukraine and Europe. He also emphasized that Moscow will not be given the opportunity to destroy Ukrainian identity or turn the country into a colony.

Poroshenko recalled his own experience of the difficult negotiations in 2015 and said that the first condition for any process must be an immediate, unconditional and complete ceasefire. He called on Russia to stop killing civilians and stop the war, after which the parties could talk about the details.

According to him, the Kremlin seeks to drag out negotiations, wage a war in parallel, and shift the blame to Kyiv. But Ukraine will not allow Russia to use this strategy and is ready for effective negotiations only after the cessation of hostilities.

Poroshenko also called the current moment a “narrow but realistic window of opportunity,” as US President Donald Trump has imposed effective secondary sanctions against Russian oil. This, he said, significantly limits Russia’s war funding. He stressed that Ukraine’s victory depends on the unity of the US, the EU and NATO, together with Kyiv.

As previously reported, the fifth President and current People’s Deputy Petro Poroshenko held urgent consultations with the President of the European People’s Party Manfred Weber regarding negotiations to end the war and the state of democracy in Ukraine.

Recall that the fifth President of Ukraine and leader of “European Solidarity” Petro Poroshenko emphasized that now is one of the most crucial moments in modern Ukrainian history, which requires internal unity, responsibility, and professionalism.
