Poroshenko on attempt to hold court hearing on illegality of sanctions behind closed doors: it’s “Putin-style”

Closing the court hearing on the illegality of sanctions from the public means turning Ukraine into Russia.

Petro Poroshenko said this during a Supreme Court session, commenting on the proposal of representatives of the president and government to hold the court session behind closed doors.

“If now the Office of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers demand closure, there is one reason – they have nothing to say. They want to hide from you, hoping that they will be able to avoid the light, because rats are afraid of light,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.

“I do not allow this possibility, because it would be a humiliation for Ukraine, when the process between the fifth and sixth Presidents on the illegality, groundlessness, extrajudiciality and unconstitutionality of sanctions will be considered in the style of the aggressor country, the Russian Federation,” he emphasized.

“When they try to turn a free, democratic state in Ukraine into an authoritarian ‘Putin-style’ one,” Poroshenko noted.

“I hope that you will have enough common sense and intelligence to withdraw this unworthy performance, which affects the honor of my state,” said the fifth President of Ukraine.
