Poroshenko on emotional speech in the Rada: it was about financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The military levy should go exclusively to finance the Armed Forces of Ukraine, not to populist ideas. Petro Poroshenko once again reminded of this after the explosive reaction on social media to his emotional speech in the Verkhovna Rada.
“I was surprised yesterday how the Internet broke when my speech in the Verkhovna Rada, with the names of government programs for spending state budget funds, including the military levy, was announced,” Poroshenko said.
“We insisted and achieved that the military levy funds go to the brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. There are more than two hundred of them here, we cooperate with each of them,” the fifth President showed a wall of chevrons of units that the Poroshenko Foundation helps.
“If you don’t spend money on the Armed Forces, you, the disrespectful government, will get “pitching,” “checking,” and even a full “e-tank,” Poroshenko noted.
Yesterday in the Verkhovna Rada, during a discussion of bill 15110 on the collection of military levies, Poroshenko stated that the European Solidarity faction, during a meeting with government officials, firmly insisted on the targeted use of this money exclusively for the needs of the Defense Forces.
“I think the same should be done with military bonds, which also should not be spent on three thousand kilometers of railway and a “single marathon” – only for the military,” Poroshenko emphasized.
“We will insist on returning personal income tax to local councils to the accounts of the brigades. We must stop corrupt thefts when purchasing weapons. The money should be as close as possible to those who are fighting. The money should go to the army,” he urged.
