Poroshenko on ending the war and an unconditional ceasefire: We will force Putin to make peace

A comprehensive, immediate, unconditional ceasefire is our strict demand, and the events in Russia now force Putin to peace.

Petro Poroshenko said this.

He noted that the latest Russian attack killed thirty people in Kyiv alone: “I can tell you that the vast majority of those who were in Kyiv weren’t sleeping. I can tell you that, perhaps for the first time in the war, many saw ballistic and cruise missiles right before their eyes.”

“The first thesis, which we proclaimed a month ago, has been demonstrated by society, events, and history to be absolutely correct – to stop the war. There is no alternative to stopping the war,” Poroshenko emphasized.

“We’re talking about only one thing: a comprehensive, immediate, and unconditional ceasefire. Our strict demand is a ceasefire. Everything that’s happening in Moscow right now is being coerced into peace by Putin, an incentive, a motivation for the Russian Federation to stop the fire,” he emphasized.

“I’ve noted this time and again, clear confirmation that we have the best diplomat—and I, as Foreign Minister, not just as President, have the authority to evaluate—the name of this diplomat is the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And we will push Putin to the world. The key factor isn’t just the lack of fuel and lubricants at gas stations, the halt in exports, and the closure of oil refineries. The key factor, which he now sees and feels beyond Moscow and St. Petersburg, is a decline in support. And this is the first time in many years. Perhaps since 1997 or 2008, when he tried to intercept the economic crisis with a war in Georgia,” Poroshenko said.

“This gives us reason for optimism – peace is possible. And this is Trump’s shift in rhetoric. And this is the potential outcome of the NATO summit in Ankara. And this is the success of Ukraine’s defense industry with its cutting-edge technologies, where we are truly demonstrating convincing leadership in certain sectors,” he noted.

“I believe, I am convinced, I emphasize that we must not miss the opportunity to achieve a ceasefire with Russia,” the fifth President of Ukraine emphasized.
