Poroshenko on the government of national unity: we are not striving for positions, it is about saving the state
Petro Poroshenko said in an interview with Vitaly Portnikov that Ukraine’s economy needs to be urgently put on military rails, and for this a government of national unity is needed. Poroshenko noted that the authorities have three options after the corruption scandal: do nothing, release the toxic figures, or create a coalition and a government of national unity.
This was reported by the press service of “European Solidarity” .
“When we talk about a unity government, Zelensky now has three options. The first option is to dismiss the government, form a unity government on a competent basis. A rebooted government that has the support of much larger segments of the population than the narrow electoral base of the Servants of the People. Starting is the right approach,” Poroshenko says.
He noted that the second approach that Zelensky has, and this is his right, is not to form a unity government, but to dismiss all participants in the “Mindich-gate”, leave those there who are not toxic with all the corruption deals, appoint anyone he wants to the position of Minister of Justice and Minister of Energy, dismissing Pronin from financial monitoring, dismissing him from the antimonopoly committee, appointing him to the state property fund, clean up all that rottenness. And then bear sole responsibility.
“I want to emphasize once again that we are not eager for positions. We are ready to officially give up positions in the executive branch of government. Limit ourselves only to control functions, parliamentary control functions. But this will give us the opportunity to think three times before rejecting corrupt bills. Our competence will allow us to transfer the economy to military flights. Without this, nothing will happen,” says Petro Poroshenko.
He added that the majority of the monomajority are “nonames”.
“I am convinced that 90% of Ukrainians will stop at the second dozen parliamentarians they can remember and name. And that is why they have not become deputies in more than six years. Why? Because this is the parliament of the President’s Office. And the de-Yermakization of the parliament must take place. In general, 2026, if we want it to be a year of peace, must be a year of competent, professional, experienced people. We cannot continue to play populism, ratings, and deception. The country will not tolerate this anymore,” warns Petro Poroshenko.
Let us recall that Poroshenko once again called on the authorities to form a government of national trust instead of conducting a PR change of the Cabinet of Ministers, which has been operating for years without reporting to society and the Rada.
