Poroshenko on the verdict in the Privatbank case: London court confirmed our rightness

The UK Supreme Court has confirmed that the nationalisation of PrivatBank was the right decision.

The fifth President Petro Poroshenko wrote about this on social networks.

“When we did this in 2016, we saved the financial system of Ukraine. We did not allow crooks to drag the entire economy of the state to the bottom,” Poroshenko states.

“Today, the London court confirmed that we were right. Special thanks to the then head of the NBU Valeria Gontareva and the entire team that got involved in this difficult matter. Together we saved the depositors’ money. We did not allow the hryvnia to depreciate. We maintained stability. It was thanks to the timely nationalization that PrivatBank became a key support2 – the opposition leader recalls.

“Ukraine and Ukrainians must be returned almost 5 billion dollars. This is not just a court verdict. This is a historical verdict on schemes, greed and impunity. This verdict is not only about the past. It is a signal for the future. No one who thought that he was above the law and justice will escape responsibility,” Petro Poroshenko sums up.

Let us recall that PrivatBank won in the English court against the former owners – Igor Kolomoisky and Gennady Bogolyubov. The decision was confirmed by the bank’s press service.
