Poroshenko predicted when Ukraine could become a member of NATO

Petro Poroshenko believes that Ukraine may receive the “green light” to join NATO by 2030. Despite the current discussions among allies, the issue of Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance will not disappear from the agenda.

He said this on the air of the “Pryamiy” TV channel.

Poroshenko emphasized that today Ukraine is a key element of European security.

“Is NATO capable of stopping Russia as of now? No. And how can NATO stop Russia? Only under one condition – Ukraine must be a member of NATO,” the fifth President noted.

He also drew attention to the statement of the Prime Minister of Denmark, who, according to him, recognized it as a mistake that Ukraine was not accepted into the Alliance earlier.

“She said that if Ukraine had been accepted into NATO earlier, this war would not have happened. And Europe should take its hat off to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, because Ukraine undoubtedly has the strongest army on the continent,” Poroshenko said.

In his opinion, the positions of individual political leaders regarding Ukraine’s future membership may change along with the change of power in democratic countries.

“I am convinced that leaders who today have an emotional or subjective attitude towards Ukraine’s membership in NATO will change. And Ukraine is eternal. Therefore, write down my forecast: by 2030, the issue of Ukraine’s accession to NATO and receiving the “green light” will be resolved,” Poroshenko said.

As a reminder, Petro Poroshenko stated that Ukraine risks falling behind Moldova on the path to membership in the European Union if it does not accelerate reforms and the adoption of necessary laws.
