Poroshenko reacted to the massive shelling: Russia wants to break us
Ukraine’s fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, has responded to the massive Russian shelling of Ukraine, saying that Russia is attacking civilian infrastructure and trying to break Ukrainians. He stressed that the attacks are aimed at psychological and economic pressure on society.
He wrote about this in Telegram .
Poroshenko noted that during the night attack, Russia did not strike military facilities, but civilian infrastructure.
“This night, Russia again struck at non-military targets,” said Petro Poroshenko.
According to him, the strikes were directed at the energy system, railway infrastructure, logistics, and economic facilities.
“It hit the energy sector so that light and heat would disappear from homes. It hit the railways to stop movement and communication between people. It hit logistics and the economy so that Ukrainians would lose their jobs, confidence, and sense of tomorrow,” Petro Poroshenko said.
He emphasized that Russia’s war is directed not only against the territorial integrity of Ukraine, but also against the everyday life of Ukrainians.
“This is a war not only for territory. This is a war against normal life. Against life as such,” said Petro Poroshenko.
Poroshenko also noted that during shelling, Ukrainians are primarily concerned about people’s safety.
“I know how it feels when, after explosions, the first thought is not the damage, but a simple one: is everyone alive?” said Petro Poroshenko.
He emphasized the role of critical infrastructure workers, rescue workers, and citizens in keeping the country functioning during wartime.
“Ukraine is not based on concrete or iron. It is based on people,” said Petro Poroshenko.
Poroshenko said that Russia seeks to exhaust Ukrainians through fear and fatigue, as it cannot achieve its goals on the battlefield.
“Russia wants our fatigue. It wants fear. It wants to break us economically and psychologically when it can’t do it on the battlefield,” Petro Poroshenko said.
He also thanked Ukrainians for their support and solidarity during the war.
“Thank you to every Ukrainian for this strength. For support. For solidarity. For faith in each other. It is our true energy.”
And it is she who holds us and leads us at this time,” said Petro Poroshenko.
It was previously reported that a fire broke out in the warehouses of the Roshen factory in the city of Yagotyn, Kyiv region, after a night attack by Russian drones.
Let us recall that on the night of February 7, Russian troops struck Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities, in particular substations, overhead power lines, as well as the Burshtyn and Dobrotvir thermal power plants.
