Poroshenko: The peace plan is simple – strengthen the army, ensure a strong negotiating position, and force Russia to cease fire.
The fifth president and leader of the European Solidarity party, Petro Poroshenko, delivered another batch of military aid to the Defense Forces brigades.
Ten units received 150 units of equipment – generators, charging stations, Muravei ATVs, all-wheel drive buggies, container battery stations, and trailer-based repair shops.
According to Poroshenko, no one strives for peace and an end to the war more than the soldiers. However, to achieve this, all efforts and resources must be directed toward strengthening the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“The Russians have changed tactics and are terrorizing Kyiv with waves of jet-propelled shahids. Repairmen, rescuers, utility workers, and Kyiv residents are living in conditions close to combat. And, of course, they want peace. But most of all, the soldiers, the members of the Armed Forces, want peace. They want a ceasefire, they want an end to the war, they want rotation, and finally, demobilization. They want to return home, having defended Ukraine, having earned respect and admiration. But what kind of peace? Will it be peace when Ukraine loses its sovereignty? When someone from outside limits the power and potential of our Armed Forces? Can we call it peace when the bony hand of an aggressor puts its hand on the throat of our church? And can we call it peace when we ask permission to use our language? No, that’s not peace; that’s capitulation,” Poroshenko notes.
“Does Poroshenko have a peace plan? Of course he does. And I’ve been demonstrating it since 2014. I concluded the Minsk agreements of 2014-2015. For me, the most telling example is Putin’s speech, in which he said Poroshenko had deceived him. Poroshenko and Merkel deceived him and gave him the opportunity to build the Armed Forces for five years,” the fifth President recalled.
“I simply wanted to save Ukraine and bring peace to the country. And I succeeded. I wanted to prevent a war from breaking out when Ukraine had no soldiers in reserve and an empty treasury,” Poroshenko said.
“What did they feed us? In 2012-2013, we were told that Minsk III wouldn’t happen. We were told we didn’t need a ceasefire. We needed ‘security guarantees,’ we needed summits, we needed some kind of negotiations, instead of implementing the proposal I outlined—an immediate, comprehensive, and unconditional ceasefire. And then sit down and conduct some kind of negotiations. That’s Poroshenko’s peace plan,” the party leader notes.
“This requires strong Armed Forces and unity. As the Minister of Foreign Affairs, as someone who held the country back from a large-scale invasion for five years, I can say that the best diplomat is the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And they must ensure Ukraine’s strong negotiating position. Therefore, every Ukrainian, including volunteers, philanthropists, and politicians, must account for what they did this week to strengthen Ukraine’s position. The most you can do, each of us, is to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Poroshenko said.
