Poroshenko welcomed the decision of the EU Council, which approved a loan mechanism for Ukraine worth 90 billion euros

Petro Poroshenko reacted on social media to the decision of the Council of the European Union to agree on a mechanism for providing Ukraine with a loan worth 90 billion euros in 2026-27.

As is known, during a recent trip to Brussels, the Fifth President called on partners to speed up the adoption procedure during meetings with European Commissioners and MEPs.

“I welcome the approval by the ambassadors of the EU member states of the mechanism for providing Ukraine with 90 billion euros in credit support in 2026-2027 to meet defense and budgetary needs,” Poroshenko wrote.

He stressed that during meetings in Brussels last week, he discussed with MEPs and representatives of the European Commission potential priorities for the use of funds, as well as a cascading approach to arms procurement, which makes it possible to increase the efficiency and speed of their delivery.

“I optimistically await the prompt approval of this mechanism by the European Parliament and the receipt of the first tranche of financial assistance in April,” Petro Poroshenko summed up.

Recall, on February 4, European ambassadors agreed on a loan mechanism of 90 billion euros for Ukraine for 2026-2027.

Previously, the European Parliament supported the use of an accelerated procedure to consider the issue of providing large-scale financial assistance to Ukraine.
