In Switzerland, an administrative and public court ruled to oblige a 40-year-old Ukrainian citizen to return the social assistance he received. The court concluded that his real lifestyle did not correspond to his declared financial situation.

This is reported by 20 minutes .

It is noted that the man arrived in Switzerland in the summer of 2022 and received social support from EVAM, the Swiss Federal Office for the Protection of Asylum Seekers.

An administrative investigation found that he owns a Porsche Cayenne worth around 37,500 Swiss francs.

It also turned out that the Ukrainian made numerous trips to European countries, in particular to Austria, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Belgium and Luxembourg, using funds from his own accounts, including deposits in euros.

The Administrative and Public Court rejected the man’s appeal and upheld the decision to terminate payments and return 67,336.20 Swiss francs of social assistance.

“The man’s lifestyle is not related to his declared financial resources,” the CDAP judges noted.

The court emphasized that cars are considered assets, and the rules for providing social assistance are the same for all recipients regardless of their status.

By the way, the German government is preparing a reform of social assistance for Ukrainian refugees : those who arrived after April 1, 2025, will no longer receive Bürgergeld, but will switch to payments under the Asylum Seeker Benefits Act (Asylbewerberleistungsgesetz).

Recall that Germany will reduce the amount of cash assistance for Ukrainian refugees who arrived in the country after April 1, 2025.
