Information about the administrative division, political system, and foreign policy of Ukraine has disappeared from the website of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This has caused debate among experts, as Beijing has previously officially stated its support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Now, such steps may indicate a revision of its approaches.

This is reported by Sing Tao Daily.

According to journalists, the “Brief Overview of Ukraine” section on the Chinese Foreign Ministry website was updated between March 2024 and July 2025. The previous version stated that Ukraine consists of 24 regions, one autonomous republic of Crimea, and two cities with special status – Kyiv and Sevastopol.

In addition, the “Politics” section of the website discussed key events in Ukrainian modern history – the Revolution of Dignity, the escape of Viktor Yanukovych, the beginning of the so-called “Ukrainian crisis”, and Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.

The “Diplomacy” section reflected Ukraine’s priorities in relations with the US and the EU, its movement towards international organizations, Kyiv’s position on condemning Russian aggression and refusing to recognize the occupation of Crimea.

Now, however, that data has disappeared. According to Wang Jianyu, a professor at the Faculty of Law at the City University of Hong Kong, such a change is indicative and may indicate a revision of China’s policy towards Ukraine.

“China has long consistently emphasized support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The disappearance of information from the official website is a signal of a shift in rhetoric,” he noted.

Analysts emphasize that this step could have far-reaching consequences for international relations. After all, China, which previously advocated for the inviolability of Ukraine’s borders, is now demonstrating a more cautious and sometimes contradictory position against the backdrop of cooperation with Russia.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine does not consider China as a possible security guarantor after the end of the war with Russia.

By the way, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful criticized China for supporting Russia in the war against Ukraine.

Recall that China is against the end of Russia’s war with Ukraine , as the conflict exhausts Russia and the United States, while creating strategic advantages for Beijing.
