Powerful explosions rocked Moscow and Rostov region at night: what is known

Several Russian regions were hit by a large-scale drone attack on Friday night. The incidents partially shut down airports, and in the Moscow region, one of the drones flew into a residential building.

This is reported by Russian media.

According to the governor of the Moscow region, Andrey Vorobyov, in Krasnogorsk, a drone crashed into an apartment on the 14th floor of a high-rise building. The explosion injured five people, including a child. Three apartments were damaged, and more than 70 residents were evacuated from the building.

Another attack occurred in Novoshakhtynsk, Rostov Oblast. A fire broke out there after a drone strike, and part of the city was left without electricity. Residential buildings, a kindergarten, and a local technical school were left without electricity, Governor Yuriy Slyusar reported.

Moscow’s Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports have been temporarily suspended due to an airstrike. According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, three drones were destroyed on their approach to the capital.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that overnight their air defenses allegedly intercepted and shot down 111 drones over 13 regions of the Russian Federation.

As a reminder, two powerful explosions occurred in the Chelyabinsk region of the Russian Federation at the Plastmas plant, which manufactures and disposes of ammunition.

As reported, a series of powerful explosions were heard in the Russian city of Ryazan on the night of October 23. According to local residents, the cause could have been a drone attack.
