In the city of Penza, Russia, on the night of September 8, a series of explosions occurred, which disabled key oil and gas infrastructure.

This was reported by sources in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

According to preliminary data, at least four explosions occurred around 4 a.m. in the Zheleznodorozhny district. As a result, two main pipes of the main oil pipeline with a throughput capacity of up to two million barrels per day were stopped. In addition, two more pipes of the local gas pipeline were damaged in the same area.

A few hours after the incident, regional Russian media reported on alleged “planned exercises” at fuel and energy facilities involving rescue and special services. According to Ukrainian intelligence, the Kremlin is trying to hide the real circumstances of the incident and avoid public publicity.

As a reminder, a large-scale fire broke out at an oil depot in the Russian village of Prokhorovka, in the Belgorod region. Local authorities previously announced a drone attack, but did not directly link the events.

As reported, on the night of September 7, drones attacked Russian territory. The Ilya Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Territory was hit.
