On the night of Tuesday, July 1, powerful explosions rocked the Saratov region of Russia. Saratov and Engels were hit.

This is reported by Russian Telegram channels.

At around 4:00 a.m., the regional governor, Roman Busargin, warned of a threat of drone attacks. Media and local publications, citing eyewitnesses, reported explosions, as well as the temporary suspension of operations at the airport in Saratov. In addition, airports in Ulyanovsk, Kazan, and Nizhny Kamsk were not operating.

Acting Governor of Rostov Oblast Yuriy Slyusar reported that Russian air defense forces allegedly shot down drones over Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, Novoshakhtynsk, as well as in Millerovsky, Myasnykovsky, Aksaisky, Neklinovsky, and Matveyevo-Kurgansky districts at night.

It should be noted that near Engels there is a strategic military airfield “Engels-2”, which is home to Tu-95MS and Tu-160 bombers. One of the largest oil refineries in the Russian Federation, “Taneko”, operates in Nizhny Kamsk. Nearby, in the city of Yelabuga, there is a special economic zone “Alabuga”, where, according to reports, kamikaze drones of the “Shahed” type are being assembled.

Recall that on the night of Thursday, June 26, powerful explosions thundered in Moscow and the region amid a drone attack.

As reported, on the night of Friday, June 20, drones attacked the Russian city of Voronezh. Locals complained of powerful explosions near an oil refinery.
