On the night of October 9, the territory of the Volgograd region became the object of a massive drone attack. As a result, destruction and fires were recorded at infrastructure facilities.

This is reported by Russian Telegram channels.

According to reports, the first explosions occurred around 1 a.m. Kyiv time. The attack was later confirmed by the regional governor, Andriy Bocharov.

According to him, the air defense forces of the Russian Armed Forces tried to repel a massive drone attack. As a result of falling debris in the Kotovsky district, a boiler house building was partially destroyed. Fires also broke out at some fuel and energy sector facilities.

“Fire departments quickly arrived at the scene of the incidents and are working to eliminate the sources of the fire,” the head of the region said.

Information about a fire at the LUKOIL-Korobkivskyi gas processing plant near Kotove has appeared on social media, citing eyewitnesses. However, there is currently no official confirmation of this information.

Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, stressed that the affected facility plays a key role in Russia’s oil and gas infrastructure. According to him, the enterprise is engaged in the processing of gas condensate, its transportation, and the production of chemical raw materials.

In addition, Kovalenko noted, this plant is an important link in the fuel supply system both for domestic consumption in the Russian Federation and for export needs.

As a reminder, on Wednesday, October 8, a large-scale fire broke out in the Russian city of Novosibirsk at the “Solder Plant”, which works for the Russian defense industry.

As reported, on Monday, October 6, two drones attacked an oil refinery in the Tyumen region of Russia, damaging a distillation column and part of the water supply system.
