Powerful fire in Samara: drones attacked the Kuibyshev refinery

On the night of September 22, drones attacked the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery in Samara. After the explosions, a large fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise, and a thick column of smoke rose above the plant.

The attack was reported by monitoring and OSINT channels. Local residents spoke of explosions preceded by the characteristic sound of drones flying. The released videos show a large-scale fire on the territory of the refinery.

Russian authorities have not yet said what exactly was damaged at the plant. According to some reports, the fire may have started in the area of the AVT-4 and AVT-5 primary oil refining units, but there is no official confirmation of this.

Kuibyshev Refinery is part of the Russian Rosneft. The plant produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, fuel oil and other petroleum products. Its design capacity is about 7 million tons of oil per year.

The company has been the target of attacks on several occasions. The last time it was shut down before the current attack was on June 10, 2026.

As a reminder, the General Staff and Special Operations Forces confirmed the damage to the Gazpromneft-Moscow Refinery in the Kapotny district of Moscow on the night of September 20. A large-scale fire was recorded on the territory of the facility.

As reported, on September 19 and on the night of September 20, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Buk-M3 air defense system, the Nebo-U radar, a drone production site, and command posts of the Russian occupiers.
