The Security Service of Ukraine detained an agent of the Russian GRU who was preparing a new missile strike by the occupiers on Zaporizhia.
This was reported by the SBU press service.
“The security service thwarted another attempt by the Rashists to obtain coordinates for a new missile attack on the industrial infrastructure of Zaporizhzhia. According to the case materials, the enemy’s “target” was production facilities and supporting electrical substations that supply power to the factories of the front-line city,” the report says.
To correct the airstrike, the GRU recruited a former employee of the local Pension Fund office. She came to the attention of the Russians through anti-Ukrainian comments on Telegram.
The Russian agent went around Zaporizhia, trying to identify industrial and energy facilities. She also interrogated a software engineer acquaintance from one of the local machine-building enterprises for the intelligence she needed.
The SBU exposed the agent early and detained her “red-handed” when she was photographing the perimeter of the factory’s energy facility.
A smartphone with Google maps, on which she marked potential “targets” for the occupiers, was seized from the suspect.
Investigators incriminate the agent under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – high treason committed under martial law. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Earlier, the SBU detained an FSB agent who guided Russian drones during a large-scale attack on Kropyvnytskyi , which damaged the city’s philharmonic hall and university.
By the way, the SBU detained a Russian agent who was preparing a breakthrough for an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group in the Sumy region.
As a reminder, in the ranks of the Defense Forces , the Security Service exposed a serviceman who worked for Russian special services and shared information about fellow soldiers with the enemy.
