Preparing for winter: Ukraine has already restored 1 GW of energy
Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal announced the restoration of 1 GW of energy capacity in preparation for the next heating season.
According to Shmyhal, the government has set a strategic goal of restoring 6 GW of capacity by the beginning of the autumn-winter period. Of these, 3.8 GW are thermal power plants.
So far, energy workers have already restored 1 GW, but the pace of work needs to be increased.
Special attention is paid to the protection of energy facilities. Work continues at generation facilities in the capital and at substations of NPC Ukrenergo . The government has instructed to create a clear work plan to control deadlines.
The government has also identified the protection of gas infrastructure as a key task, as a stable gas supply ensures the operation of distributed generation.
In addition, Ukraine continues to cooperate with international partners and monitors the use of funds from the Energy Support Fund.
During the meeting, the Minister of Energy also honored industry workers with state awards for their resilience during Russian attacks.
