In Bern, Switzerland, an unauthorized pro-Palestinian protest has escalated into mass riots. As a result of clashes with demonstrators, 18 police officers were injured, four of whom were hospitalized.

An unauthorized pro-Palestinian protest in the Swiss capital ended in large-scale clashes with police on Saturday. According to law enforcement, 18 police officers were injured in the unrest, four of whom were taken to hospital for examination.

Police said at a press conference that serious injuries were avoided thanks to protective equipment. During the protest, protesters repeatedly tried to break through barricades and attacked officers using construction tools, furniture, rocks, fire extinguishers, fireworks and laser pointers.

To restore order, law enforcement officers used water cannons, tear gas, and rubber bullets. A total of 536 people were detained, who were released after their identities were checked. One of the detainees was wanted on an arrest warrant.

Police said some of the rioters could face formal charges after the investigation is complete. Bern authorities stressed that holding unauthorized rallies is a violation of public order and poses a threat to the safety of city residents.

By the way, US President Donald Trump said during a Cabinet meeting that Hamas militants must release all hostages by the beginning of next week . After that, a final agreement on the future of Gaza is planned to be signed in Egypt.
