Providers will raise prices: how much will stable internet cost?

Home Internet prices may rise in Ukraine. Providers, who spend more money on backup power and alternative communication channels, are increasingly unable to maintain the current cost of services.

This was stated by Oleksandr Polyudov, the owner of the Kyiv-based Internet provider UTELS, in a comment to dev.ua.

According to him, the stability of the network requires additional costs, so the current tariffs within 300–350 UAH may become unprofitable for operators.

“We should expect an increase in the cost of Internet services. Providers that ensure the stability of networks, power reserves, and communication channels cannot continue to provide Internet for 300–350 UAH. There will be a significant increase in prices,” said Polyudov.

He also noted that some companies may not be able to withstand competition if they do not invest in modernizing and backing up networks.

According to Polyudov, this could also affect subscribers. If users massively switch to providers with more stable infrastructure, new connections could be slower due to queues.

At the same time, the above statement does not specify the specific amount of the future tariff increase or the date when it may occur.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian data center, which housed the hosting provider MiroHost, was destroyed as a result of a Russian attack . The main node of the Internet provider Etherlink network, which serves subscribers, in particular in the central part of Kyiv, was also damaged due to the attack.

As reported, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian troops were striking data centers in Ukraine during the September 23 attack . Amid the shelling in Kyiv and the region, about 100,000 households faced problems with the Internet.
