The TV channel “Pryamiy” joined the “Initiative 143”, within the framework of which Ukrainian media jointly published an investigation into the property of the brother of the director of the State Bureau of Investigation, Oleksiy Sukhachev, despite a court ban. The initiative was a response to the decision of the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv, which banned the editorial offices of “Slidstvo.Info” and the Anti-Corruption Center from distributing the material.

This is reported by “Pryamiy” .

It is noted that “Pryamiy”, “Ukrainska Pravda” , “Suspilne” , “Skhemi” (“Radio Liberty”), hromadske , “Dzerkalo Tyzhnia” , NV , Bihus.Info , “Toronto Television” and “24 Kanal” have joined the “Initiative 143”. The name of the initiative comes from the 143 apartments and non-residential premises that appear in the journalistic investigation.

The journalists stated that the joint publication is a manifestation of solidarity with the editorial offices of “Slidstvo.Info” and the Anti-Corruption Center, which were banned from distributing the material by the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv. In their opinion, such a decision is a manifestation of censorship.

The investigation notes that the brother of the SBI director is no longer the owner of 143 real estate properties. Journalists also drew attention to the criminal proceedings against the developer of the residential complex, who, according to them, could be connected to the brother of the SBI head. The case was initially investigated by the SBI, but was later transferred to the police, where the proceedings were closed. After receiving journalistic inquiries, the investigation was resumed.

According to Anna Babinets, the founding editor of “Slidstva.Info”, “the collective publication became a demonstration of solidarity of the media community in defense of freedom of speech and independent journalism.

The Anti-Corruption Center reported that on June 24, they contacted Oleksiy Sukhachev with a request regarding the origin of his brother’s real estate, and also sent a similar request to Parkovy-2 LLC. The editorial office did not receive any responses to the requests. The CPC also stated that they will appeal the court’s decision to ban the publication of the investigation.

Previously, eight Ukrainian media outlets united into “Initiative 143” and simultaneously published an investigation into 143 real estate properties that previously belonged to the brother of the director of the State Bureau of Investigation, Oleksiy Sukhachev.
