Donetsk OVA Chief Vadim Filashkin ordered the Kramatorsk and Slavyansk city military administrations to suspend public transportation due to the sharp deterioration of the security situation.
He announced this on his Telegram channel.
According to Filashkin, Russian troops are specifically targeting civilians, and buses carrying passengers are becoming targets due to the large number of people.
“Further proof is today’s tragedy in Kramatorsk, where Russians instantly killed 30 people and wounded another 18,” the head of the OVA noted.
He emphasized that Russia, in his words, deliberately disregards the rules of war and the norms of international humanitarian law, choosing targets that allow it to inflict maximum harm on the civilian population.
“Under these circumstances, we have no right to risk the lives of passengers and drivers. The safety of the residents of Kramatorsk and Slovyansk is our top priority right now,” Filashkin stated.
He called on residents to treat the decision with understanding, emphasizing that it was forced by the actions of Russian troops.
“This is a forced step, dictated by the enemy’s behavior, for whom civilian transport has become yet another way to kill Ukrainians,” added the head of the Donetsk OVA.
As a reminder,Russian troops also struck a bus in Kramatorsk . Thirty people were killed and 18 wounded.
