The United Kingdom has imposed new sanctions on the Russian Federation in response to the use of chemical weapons by Russian forces on the front line, a clear violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.

This was reported by Ukrinform.

The British government has imposed sanctions on two individuals: Alexei Rtyshchev, head of the radiological, chemical, and biological protection troops of the Russian Armed Forces, and his deputy, Andrey Marchenko, who commanded forces that used prohibited weapons.

Their assets in the UK will be frozen, and they are banned from entering the country.

Additionally, the Russian Research Institute of Applied Chemistry, which supplied weapons to the front, has also been targeted.

“The institute provided the Russian military with grenades containing the toxic substance RG-Vo, used to suppress mass unrest and as a method of warfare against Ukraine, violating the Chemical Weapons Convention,” the British government emphasized.

Previously, Dutch intelligence reported that the Russian military is actively using chemical agents against Ukrainian defenders, in particular by dropping poisonous mixtures from drones to force soldiers out of fortifications.

We will remind you that the press service of the operational brigade “RUBIZH” stated that the Russian occupation army is using chemical weapons in the Siversk direction.

As reported, the Russian occupiers are systematically using banned chemical substances on the front. In particular, they are “smoking” Ukrainian soldiers out of shelters.
