Putin called China a possible security guarantor for Ukraine: what does this mean?

Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska, suggested China as a country that could provide security guarantees for Ukraine.
This was reported by Axios, citing a source.
As the interlocutor assured, Putin is indeed ready to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine.
According to the publication, Putin named China as one of the guarantors. This likely means that he would be against the creation of a security force that would include troops from NATO member countries.
At the same time, a Ukrainian official claims that the issue of security guarantees has not been resolved and will be raised again on August 18, during a meeting of the leaders of Ukraine, Europe, and the United States.
