Russia declared a so-called ceasefire on May 8 and 9, but at the same time threatened to strike the center of Kyiv in the event of attempts to disrupt the parade in Moscow.
This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The Russian department stated that the decision on the ceasefire was allegedly made by Vladimir Putin on the eve of the May 9 celebrations.
At the same time, they threatened that if Ukraine attempted to strike to disrupt the parade, the Russian army would strike back at the center of Kyiv.
In addition, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that the civilian population of Kyiv and employees of foreign diplomatic missions should leave the city in advance in the event of “attempts to disrupt the parade.”
Thus, Moscow simultaneously declares a ceasefire and publicly voices new threats of strikes on the Ukrainian capital.
There is currently no official reaction from the Ukrainian side to this statement.
