Putin denies Russia’s involvement in drone crash in Romania

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has commented on the downing of a drone in the Romanian city of Galati, saying that it is impossible to determine its origin until an expert examination is completed. The Kremlin has also attempted to shift responsibility for the incident to Ukraine.

“I just found out, before entering this hall, that I was informed that some kind of incident had allegedly occurred with our drone,” the Russian dictator said.

After that, he began asking journalists what exactly was known about the downing of the drone in Romania and on the basis of what data it was called Russian. Then he began to recall past incidents in the Baltic countries and Finland, baselessly accusing Ukraine of violating the borders of European states.

“The first reaction was exactly the same as now in Romania. Here is the guard, the Russians are coming, the Russians are hitting. Then, after a short time, it turned out that it had nothing to do with Russian aircraft, but these were drones of Ukrainian origin, they went off course, they flew there under the influence of electronic warfare or for some other reason due to imperfect technical data and fell there. In this case, I think that, most likely, we are talking about exactly such a situation,” Putin added.

In addition, Putin announced Russia’s alleged readiness to participate in clarifying the circumstances of the incident. According to him, Moscow is ready to conduct an “objective investigation” if the Romanian side transfers the wreckage of the drone to the Russian side.

By the way, Romanian President Nikos Dan announced the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Constanta and the expulsion of the Russian consul after a Russian drone crashed into a residential building in Galati. The incident injured two civilians.

Earlier, “Pryamiy” reported that in the Romanian city of Galati on May 29, a Russian drone crashed into a residential building. After the impact, a fire broke out, and two people were injured.

Later, NATO condemned the downing of a Russian drone on a residential building in Romania and called the Russian Federation’s actions irresponsible. The Romanian Foreign Minister stated that after the incident with the drone falling on a residential building in Romania, NATO may apply Article 4 on consultations with allies.
