Russian dictator Vladimir Putin met with US President Donald Trump’s special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in the Kremlin on September 5. During the talks, the parties discussed the cessation of strikes, further US contacts with Ukraine, and the resolution of the war.

This is reported by Russian media.

American negotiators have arrived in Moscow for a new round of talks to end the war in Ukraine. Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov and special envoy Kirill Dmitriev also participated in the meeting on the Russian side.

Putin said that Moscow is ready to do everything necessary to ensure the safety of American negotiators during their mission.

Commenting on a possible ceasefire by the end of September 7, Putin stated that the request to stop the strikes on Kyiv allegedly reached the Russian side through official channels.

At the same time, he stated that Russia and Ukraine allegedly did not agree on a 3-day ceasefire. According to Putin, the Ukrainian side has recently “significantly reduced” the number of attacks.

Putin also claimed that strikes on Kyiv had allegedly not been launched since midnight on September 5. At the same time, air raid warnings were repeatedly sounded in Kyiv and the region during the day due to the threat of attack drones.

Putin said that Trump continues to try to contribute to the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. According to him, contacts with American representatives “are always beneficial,” and Moscow is “comfortable working” with Witkoff and Kushner.

During the meeting, Steve Witkoff said that he was looking forward to talks with Putin and called communication with him one of the most memorable moments.

“We’ve been waiting for this meeting today. We talked about how when we retire, we’ll have so many stories to tell, and talking to you will be one of the best and most memorable,” Witkoff said.

Trump’s special representative thanked Putin for the reception and conveyed the best wishes of the US President. He also stated that the family of released American Bob Gilman is grateful to Putin for facilitating his return home.

Separately, Witkoff thanked the Russian side for agreeing to a 3-day ceasefire, during which, he said, strikes were not supposed to be launched on either Kyiv or Moscow. He noted that this allowed the American delegation to arrive safely in Moscow.

After the talks in Moscow, Witkoff and Kushner are scheduled to travel to Kyiv to continue consultations.

The day before, US President’s special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow on Saturday, September 5. The American envoys are scheduled to hold talks with Vladimir Putin.

Recall that US President Donald Trump said that his representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner went to Moscow with a proposal to end the war in Ukraine. According to him, American negotiators have done a lot of work and should try to reach an agreement.
