Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin proposed a limited ceasefire ahead of a meeting with US President Donald Trump.

This was reported by The Economist, RBC-Ukraine reports .

The truce proposed by Putin reportedly includes a ceasefire in the air and at sea. Sources say broader agreements are also possible, but the outcome would look like a freeze on the conflict.

At the same time, the publication emphasizes that the positions of the Ukrainian, American, and Russian sides, as before, are significantly different.

“Apparently, there are several new texts that overlap and which sources describe as parallel works,” the article says.

In addition, as The Economist writes, during a meeting between Putin and Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy, the latter offered Russia the restoration of trade and the lifting of sanctions. In turn, the Kremlin leader assured that he would cease fire on condition of the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

It was previously reported that a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin is scheduled for the end of next week .

Recall that on the eve of the meeting between Putin and Trump , Ukraine and Europe presented their own plan to the United States , which should become the basis for negotiations with the Russian side.

By the way, Vladimir Putin still seeks to gain full control over four Ukrainian regions — Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia — and has no plans to withdraw from the occupied territories.
