Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has not ruled out incorporating the occupied territories of Ukraine into Russia. According to him, the Russian Federation plans to restore the economy and social sphere there.
Putin stated this on October 1 during a plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club.
Speaking about the occupied territories, Putin stated that Russia intends to “raise” the standard of living of their inhabitants to that of Russia.
“If we talk about the territories that have and will be part of the Russian Federation, then we will have to restore the economy and the social sphere,” he said.
Putin also commented on the Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries. According to him, Russia lost about 1% of its GDP due to the attacks on refineries.
In addition, he called the proposal to stop Russian strikes in exchange for stopping Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries “ridiculous.”
