Odesa in the Crosshairs: Putin’s New Priority in the War Against Ukraine
This was reported by the Financial Times.
According to a senior official, Putin considers Odesa a “historically Russian region,” which is why he seeks to occupy the city.
If Odesa were to fall, Ukraine would lose its main seaport. However, European officials believe this scenario is unlikely, as Russia appears increasingly inclined toward a ceasefire.
At the same time, some NATO leaders warn that the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian front could significantly deteriorate in the coming months.
Nevertheless, military analysts note that both Ukraine and Russia are showing signs of exhaustion. It is believed that the Russian Federation may be able to sustain its current level of operations for another year, while Ukraine will remain dependent on support from its partners.
As a reminder, the President’s Office stated that Russia has large-scale plans for the further occupation of territories that could cut off Ukraine from the Black Sea, including the capture of Odesa and Mykolaiv.
As reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin is convinced that his army will be able to completely capture the four Ukrainian regions claimed by the Kremlin by the end of 2025.
By the way, analyst David Axe noted that at Russia’s current pace, it would take centuries and tens of millions of victims to capture Ukraine.
